NZ Chefs are delighted to announce Quinn Ojala will be the commis Chef to assist NZ's Global Chef Challenger, Cam Davies at the Grand Final at the Worldchefs Congress in Singapore in October 2024.

Quinn has finished his NZ Certificate in Cookery level 4 at Ara [2023] and is working as a chef in Christchurch.

NZ Chefs Board member Mark Sycamore who headed the panel of Judges said, 'Congratulations to Quinn who was selected from a very talented group. It's great to see the calibre of emerging chefs in NZ.'

NZ Chefs acknowledges and thanks the following judging panel for their time and expertise: Mark Sycamore, Cam Davies, and Pip Duncan.



To Celebrate International Day of the Chef, NZ Chefs have launched Karakia.

Thanks to NZ Chefs’ Joe Mcleod, Matua Rangatira Tohunga Tūmau [Senior Executive Master Chef] (below) for these Karakia to use for the opening and closing of Hui.

Golden Chef's Hat Awards Culinary Competition


Registration opened on 18 March for the Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award 2024, and young New Zealand and Australian chefs are being encouraged to get involved.
Now entering its 59th year, Golden Chefs is Australia’s longest running culinary competition for young chefs. For those who take part, it can be a unique career defining moment where participants are put to the test showcasing their skills and expertise for industry recognition.
Entry is open online until Monday 6 May at
goldenchefs.com.au for New Zealand and Australian chefs aged 16-24 years, as of 31 December 2024. So long as they meet the eligibility criteria, they will be guaranteed a spot at the regional heats.
